FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
SARASOTA and BRADENTON, Fla.; Aug. 6, 2024 – Avelo Airlines continues its growth in Sarasota and Bradenton today with the airline’s announcement of the return of nonstop, seasonal service between Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) and Philadelphia / Delaware Valley region’s best airport – Wilmington Airport (ILG).
Beginning November 23, 2024, Avelo will operate this route to Philadelphia / Wilmington twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays utilizing Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. Very low, one-way fares from SRQ start at $57*. Travelers can make reservations at AveloAir.com.
Philadelphia / Delaware Valley will rejoin Avelo’s current nonstop service to Southern Connecticut’s Tweed-Ne Haven Airport (HVN).
Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Lev said, “SRQ – We’re growing again. We’re excited to continue growth in the Sarasota / Bradenton region and bring back your nonstop, seasonal route to Philadelphia. Along with the return of Philadelphia and our successful New Haven route, we love showcasing Avelo’s low fares, travel-friendly convenience and industry-leading reliability to travelers in southwest Florida. This nonstop service will also make enjoying Sarasota / Bradenton’s famous beaches and high-flying attractions a fast and seamless journey for Delaware Valley travelers.”
Sarasota Bradenton International Airport President and CEO Rick Piccolo said, “After a successful inaugural season, we are thrilled to see the return of nonstop service between Philadelphia/Wilmington, DE, and Sarasota/Bradenton, FL. Our passengers have shared their enjoyment with flying Avelo on this convenient, reliable, nonstop route.”
Wilmington Airport is conveniently located a short drive south of Philadelphia - offering a refreshingly fast, smooth and simple alternative hometown airport experience. ILG’s adjacency to multiple major highways and railways makes it the most convenient and travel-friendly airport for Philly and the Delaware Valley, which encompasses portions of four states: Southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, South Jersey and the northern Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Since taking flight on April 28, 2021, Avelo has flown over 5.2 million Customers on over 40,000 flights. Today Avelo serves 54 destinations spanning 24 states, Puerto Rico and two international countries: Jamaica and Mexico.
Avelo has unlocked a new era of convenience, choice, and competition by flying unserved routes to primarily underserved communities across the country. Every route has at least one small, easy to use airport. This makes every Avelo journey a smooth, easy, and more enjoyable experience than contending with the crowds, congestion and long walks at larger airports.
Avelo is distinguished by its industry-leading reliability. Year-to-date, Avelo ranks #1 in on-time performance and achieved the lowest flight cancellation rate in the industry. These results are reported by Anuvu, a leading aviation data services company also utilized by The Wall Street Journal for the publication’s annual airline ranking. Anuvu’s complete industry results and rankings are available at AveloAir.com.
Avelo Customers can always change or cancel their itineraries with no extra fees. Additionally, families can travel with ease knowing every child 14 and under will be automatically seated with an accompanying adult at no additional cost.
Avelo offers advanced seat assignments for sale. One third of its seats are extra leg room seats, ranging from 32 inches to more than 36 inches, offering a more comfortable experience for Customers who value more space. In addition to advance seat assignments, Avelo offers several unbundled travel-enhancing options that give Customers the flexibility to pay only for what they value, including priority boarding, checked bags, carry-on overhead bags, and bringing a pet in the cabin.
