Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) Successfully Hosts Its First Southwest Florida Honor Flight - Mission XXIII

The Sarasota Bradenton International Airport is proud to announce the monumental success of its first ever Southwest Florida Honor Flight. Mission XXIII took place on Tuesday, October 14th, 2025, which marked a significant milestone, transporting 90 local veterans on a one-day journey to Washington, D.C., to visit the national memorials built in their honor. The flight served a diverse group of heroes from the Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice, Lakewood Ranch, Parrish, Ellenton, and Palmetto areas, representing multiple generations of service: one veteran from World War II, nine from the Korean War, and the remainder from the Vietnam War, Cold War, and other service eras. Upon arrival back to SRQ, the veterans were greeted with a community celebration honoring their service and providing the welcome home they deserved.

“There is no greater privilege than to facilitate a day of honor and remembrance for our veterans. This mission is a powerful symbol of our community's deep gratitude, and we are committed to ensuring these heroes and their guardians have a seamless, memorable experience as they travel to visit the memorials built in their honor." stated Rick Piccolo, President, and CEO of the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport.
