SRQ Passenger Traffic for October Increases to 69% of 2019
And Exceeds 1M Passengers Year-to-Date

For the month of October, passenger traffic at the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) climbed to 69% of the 2019 level.  Traffic for September was at the 53% level of 2019 and both July and August were at the 43% level of 2019.  Passengers totaled 110,883 for October 2020 compared to 160,327 passengers in October 2019.  Year-to-date figures show that airport passenger traffic is down 35% compared to 2019 with 1,011,677 passengers using the airport so far this year.

November brings additional air service with JetBlue Airways starting new nonstop service to Newark, NJ (EWR), Allegiant Air starting new nonstop service to Boston, MA (BOS) and returning seasonal service to Louisville, KY (SDF) and South Bend, IN (SBN).  Delta Air Lines will return service to New York, NY (LGA) and Sun Country Airlines returns seasonal service to Minneapolis, MN (MSP).

“We continue to see our airport rebounding much faster than other airports across the country.  Our October passenger level was just shy of where it was in 2018 and each month, we continue to see our passenger levels climb.  Since the start of the pandemic, we have implemented numerous measures to create a clean and safe environment for travelers who use our airport.  We are excited to welcome back our residents and visitors as we enter our busy holiday season,” stated Rick Piccolo, President, CEO of the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport.

Some of the cleaning and safety measures that are in place at SRQ include plastic shields at all customer service counters, touchless hand sanitizer stations, social distancing markers in queuing lines, courtesy thermal temperature scanners, and increased janitorial staff to clean high-touch surfaces.  You will also see employees, tenants, and passengers wearing protective face coverings to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

SRQ currently has 8 airlines providing nonstop service to 36 destinations.
