SRQ Passenger Traffic for January Increases 6% Over December

For the month of January, passenger traffic at the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) increased 6% over the previous month of December. January passengers totaled 126,704 compared to 119,114 passengers in December.  Compared to January 2020, passenger traffic was 56% of the 2020 level of 225,655.

With the addition of Southwest Airlines, who started service at SRQ on Feb. 14th, passenger numbers are expected to increase rapidly over the next few months.  There are currently 10 airlines serving 44 destinations from SRQ.

“With Southwest Airlines now serving SRQ, we expect our February passenger numbers to be strong and our March numbers to be close to where they were in 2019.  With almost every major US airline now serving our airport, providing low fares and an abundance of destinations, the local community and visitors can experience the convenience of flying directly to their destination without the hassle of driving to or from other airports outside our area.  We hope the community embraces all this new service and makes SRQ their first choice when traveling by air,” stated Rick Piccolo, President, CEO of the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport.
